The talk introduced the proposed Technology Carbon Standard, an open source framework for assessing and reducing the environmental impact of enterprise technology estates. Drawing on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, it groups technology by lifecycle stage so organisations can consistently map, measure and prioritise their tech carbon footprint. It went into the Upstream, Operational and Downstream parts of the standard, and how the same approach could be used to assess water and e-waste impacts.
